There's a certain attitude when it comes to pop punk. It's not what folks who haven't listened to much of the genre would expect: it's smiles, bright colors, tight camaraderie, and playful moshing. It's going through challenging emotions while being there for others. All while shredding some dang guitar and camping out in parking lots (RIP Warped Tour).
Ben Wendt and his outfit The Way Way Back is a shining example of that. All of that. We got a chance to sit down with Ben and record an intimate, solo acoustic performance of the band's unreleased track "Kintsugi (You're Never Gonna Leave It All Behind)," which will accompany their upcoming EP. The track explores a divisive relationship, the ups and downs, and the aspects that you can't escape because they simply become part of you. All sung while Ben embodies all of the above attributes.
The Way Way Back are performing at the inaugural pop-punk festival Camp Moshawanna, happening July 20th at The Rino and Screenland Armour Theatre in North Kansas City, Missouri. The day long festival is packed with 14 bands, all for—$15–that's a little over a dollar per band, folks. Get more info at the link below and get tickets before they're gone!
