It's always a shot in the dark when a festival is in its first year. There's passion that started it and it flows behind the scenes, getting everything booked and getting folks excited for their creation. Putting in all this work and funneling all this love and excitement into something that may or may not happen, that folks may or may not show up to. It's nerve wracking.
Entering into it's first year, Camp Moshawanna didn't have to worry about any of that. At least from the crowd's perspective. When The Way Way Back opened up the inaugural fest, the main room for the festival, The Rino in North Kansas City, was almost at capacity. Festival attendees were shouting the band's lyrics back at them, which is extra impressive seeing as The Way Way Back only started playing in 2018. This trend of excitement continued throughout the day long festival with the Rino and Screenland Armour, the other venue–which is an amazing independent movie theatre just down the block, both filling up to capacity numerous times throughout the day.
Keep an eye out and an ear open for more news on Camp Moshawanna–we'll be crossing our fingers for a second year! And if you didn't get to attend, check out our Lo-Fi sessions with fetival artists Royal Order, Camp, and The Way Way Back.
