I attended Boulevardia yesterday, and I was quite disappointed with it. I was excited to try beers from so many different breweries, but then upset to find all those breweries were only available if you paid an additional $85 for the Taps and Tastes. I also feel the $35 entry fee is too high for what you get - you have to buy everything once you get in. Considering this event took place in downtown Kansas City, it was odd that 99% of the people in attendance were white. I will not be returning. ... See MoreSee Less

Boulevardia

Good afternoon Boulevardians and Happy Father’s Day!

First off, we wanted to thank each and every attendee, sponsor, performer, maker, vendor, volunteer, staff member and supporter for making this year’s event truly unforgettable. It takes a lot of planning and work to bring our country within a country to life every year.

While we can plan much of what happens every year, the weather will always be out of our control. The festival is a rain or shine event but when it comes to the safety of our stage crews and all performers we must halt musical performances on our outdoor stages whenever we experience lightning and heavy winds. Unfortunately, moving our stage indoors to either arena was not an option due to the amount of time and effort that would be required given impending sound and noise curfews.

The personal safety of each and every one of our attendees will always be our primary concern as an organization. Our thanks to Hy-Vee Arena and Hale Arena for providing shelter during the storm that rolled through last night, which was part of our weather safety plans. Though our desire was that the storm would pass quickly so our performance schedule could resume (even with abbreviated sets), it didn't move fast enough and we passed our designated time to remain in compliance with the aforementioned curfews.

Yet aside from the weather late Saturday night, we couldn’t have asked for a better weekend overall. As always, we are reviewing all the feedback we’ve received and will continue to work towards making Boulevardia better every year. We truly appreciate your support and understanding and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2020.

Good music, good food, and good beers. It can get a little hot out in the sun all day, but there are always shaded areas and water stations.

Greatly enjoyed the new layout, and love that Kemper Arena (the future HyVee Arena) is still the backdrop for the main stage. It’s such a big part of Kansas City’s history! With their expanded offerings – including a silent disco (what?!) – I would recommend this fest to anyone. It’s even worth it in the hot hot heat!

Boulevardia in my opinion has established itself as the best Kansas City based music festival and one of the top in the Midwest area. Well worth the trip whether its from states away or down into the West Bottoms.

The music continues to diversify itself from the “typical festival circuit” grabbing a variety of sounds and established to up and coming acts which get paired with the booming and incredible local music scene in KC.

The old layout amongst the older buildings was great but much more confined and hard to get to, the newer layout between the shadows of the old Kemper Arena and the historic Stockyards Buildings continued to improve upon their move there in 2017. They could use some more interaction with the established businesses/bars in the area but at least now they allowed them to be used by patrons wandering away from the music.

If it’s hot, it will be very hot with not much rest from the sun at least from the main stage on asphalt but there’s plenty of other stages and events to keep you entertained in the shade.

Also, the beer is really good too and there’s been a big ferris wheel that make the backdrop of the fest truly unique to patrons and many of the artists who seem so thankful for performing there. 11/10 would go again.

In KC, there are few festivals, but this one is fun every year. A good mix of indie, folk, and alternative music is typically the type of music seen here.

The atmosphere is fun as everyone’s favorite KC brewery has a good selection of beers at a reasonable price. There are lots of food trucks and vendors to check out as well. It does get hot as this is in KC where the summers can be very hot, so drink a lot of water.

The location in the West Bottoms is a unique one, as it once was one of the largest stockyard urban areas in the US back in the 20th century, but is now making a comeback as a hip area with the renovations of HyVee arena along with several new trendy restaurants and watering holes.

The people attending the show are very nice and everyone is looking to have a good time here. While a lot of people go for the music, there is plenty to do at this festival as well if looking for something to do on a weekend summer in KC.
